Hydraulic Hose Specifications

Complete SAE 100R series hydraulic hose data including dimensions, pressure ratings, bend radius, and temperature limits. Reference for proper hose selection.

Safety Factor: Working pressure ratings include a 4:1 safety factor. Burst pressure is typically 4x working pressure. Never exceed working pressure in service. Consider impulse cycles, temperature derating, and assembly efficiency.

Hose Selection Guide

By Application

  • General hydraulics (to 3000 psi): R1 or R2
  • High pressure (3000-5000 psi): R2 or R12
  • Very high pressure (5000+ psi): R13 or R15
  • Return lines (low pressure): R3 or R6
  • Suction lines: R4 (wire reinforced)
  • Compact spaces: R16 or R17
  • Tight routing: R7 (thermoplastic)
  • High impulse cycles: R12 or higher spiral

Selection Criteria (STAMPED)

  • Size - ID must match flow requirements
  • Temperature - Both fluid and ambient
  • Application - Static vs. dynamic, impulse
  • Material - Tube compatible with fluid
  • Pressure - Working pressure + surge
  • Ends - Fitting style and orientation
  • Delivery - Length, bend radius, routing

Recommended Flow Velocities

  • Pressure lines: 15-20 ft/s (4.5-6 m/s)
  • Return lines: 10-15 ft/s (3-4.5 m/s)
  • Suction lines: 4 ft/s max (1.2 m/s)
  • Drain lines: 5-8 ft/s (1.5-2.5 m/s)
