How It Works

Multi-Cylinder Sequencing

When multiple cylinders share a pump, sequence valves ensure they operate in order. Each cylinder requires a specific pressure based on its load and area:

P_cyl = Load / Area = Load / (pi × bore^2 / 4)

Sequence Valve Settings

Each sequence valve is set above the operating pressure of its cylinder plus a margin (typically 50-200 psi):

P_seq = P_cyl + margin

Cycle Time

Cycle time per cylinder = volume displaced / flow rate:

t = (Area × Stroke) / (Flow × 231) seconds

Cylinder Sequencing

Configure 2-4 cylinders with bore, rod, stroke, and load to determine sequencing and cycle time.
